Andrzej Zieliński is the best breeder again
Andrzej Zieliński, carrying out the stud farm Pegaz in Nowa Wrona, near Nasielsk, is the most successful Polish breeder for the second time in a row.
In comparison with the previous year, when he had only one firm representative, winter candidate for the Derby, Pillar (Ecosse-Palixodia/Linamix), this time we can say, in the language of the sports rapporteurs, a few horses got points in his favour. Revelation of the season was Patronus (Ecosse-Princes of Java / Java Gold), winner of the Derby and the Great Warsaw Race, sold by Zieliński at the beginning of this year to the Ukrainian Konstantin Zgara. Pillar was also the leading three-year-old horse (second in the Ruler Stakes, first in the race for the Iwno Award and third in the Derby and St. Leger).
Among the two-year old horses, especially Predator (brother of Pillar), winner of the Trial and Neman Award, proved to be good. Unfortunately, Prince of Ecosse (Ecosse-Princess Dancer/Suave Dancer) didn’t manage to return to the track after a 1.5-year break due to injury, although he looked promising and was undefeated in the years of two. The fact is that he won his first race this year (Gr. II) in a good style and time (1,800 m – 1’50), but took the fourth place in another strong test (Demon Club Award, Gr. I, 2,000 m – 2’04.3). He lost with successful three-year-old Jovell only by two lengths and neck, but coach Zieliński and trainer Maciej Janikowski came to the conclusion after this performance that further running could be bad for Książe. Therefore, he returned to the home stud in August, where he will make his debut as a sire next year. Moreover, from among the horses bred by Zieliński, two victories were enjoyed in Group IV by three-year-old Bilberry (Ecosse-Beeline/Belenus), which didn’t begin to race properly earlier than in the fall, and some two-year old Dabby (Ecosse-Desert Dabby/Linamix). Baritone (Ecosse-Becky Gold/Java Gold) and Pantera (sister of Patronus) didn’t manage to win the race at the age of two but they can spread their wings next season.
The second place in the competition between breeders was undoubtedly taken by Hindu Kishore Mirpuri, naturalized in Poland for over 20 years. His Kundalini (Belenus-Kantaya/Croco Rouge) proved to be the best mare of the season of 2013. She won Solina, Oaks and was second twice after Patronus in the major races of the season, Derby and Great Warsaw.
Kishore Mirpuri and Zbigniew Górski
Last season there were running three horses of Mirpuri breeding: three-year-old Daremi (Tertullian-Durova/Soviet Star) and two-year-old Charbinger (Arithmancer-Celentina/Case Law) and Kudrat (Arithmancer-Kantaya/Croco Rouge). The mare won the group race, and the first stallion won the Trial Award. The other remained without a victory. As far as other private farms are concerned, one victory in outside group races was gained by: Kalahari Dream (Belenus-Karuzela/Tagula, Cybernetyki Investment), Samareto (Zarewitsch-Sambia/Special Power, Jacek Cukrowski), Morfina (Rhodessian Winter-Magenat/Jape, Moszna Stud Farm) and Dżerald (Roulette-Dżamajka/Juror, Widzów Stud Farm – K. Tyszko). The latter stud farm also won two Trial Awards, i.e. Dżerald and Dżordżina (Roulette-Dzordżia/Sorbie Tower). Tadeusz Sobierajski also had a successful season due to Suo (Cloword-Sordina/In ??Camera), which was third in the Great Warsaw Race and achieved three victories, including the race for the Closing of the Season (Gr. I). Good results of the horses from state studs were assigned mainly to Golejewko due to Niechius (Jape-Nechemia/Enjoy Plan) and Habana. Niechius was trained by ?Małgorzata ?Łojek and won four races, including the race for the Ruten Award in Wrocław, while Habana was trained by Michał Borkowski and won a highly subsidized obstacle race (100 thousand zlotys for the first place). Moreover, the three races (in order Group III, II and I) were won by Jovell (Jape-Jovanka/Enjoy Plan). Andrzej Walicki trained him for the Great Warsaw Race but Golejewko didn’t expect any considerable success and sold his brother Jovelanos to the Czechs. Honor of the Horse Stud Farm in Krasne was saved by 4-year-old Kara (Fly to the Stars-Kahira/Saphir), which ridden by her trainer Emil Zahariev made one of the biggest sensations of the season, beating the best three mares, with Kundalini at the forefront (she took the sixth place) and Wild Lady (2) in the race for the prize of her home stud (cat. A), and proved to be the best older horse in the Great Warsaw Race (4). Also Iwno recorded only one outside group victory: by Pink Pearl: Simka (Jape-Strefa/Saphir).
Jan Głowacki
Private breeding of Arabians is unrivalled
All outside group awards for full-blooded Arabians entered into the Polish Arabian Stud Book were won by private breeders. Unquestionable primacy gained Jan Głowacki, owner of the family stud farm in Nowa Mała Wieś near Kampinos. Wares (Ontario HF-Wienerva/Santhos) dominated the competition of four-year-old and older horses (he won the Derby, Michałów and Comparative), and Westim proved to be undefeated in the age-group of three-year-old horses, winning four races (including the outside group race of Bask and Sambora).
Krzysztof Zakolski
Krzysztof Zakolski, administrator of Cupel village (Mazovia province), also had a good season. Five-year-old Wielki Damati (Ontario HF-Great Lady El Amor) won the race for the Award of Kabaret and Kurozwęki, and his younger sister Wielka Damira won the Oaks. The main trial before the Derby, Janów Award, was won by Mater Bars (Akbars-Mergissa/Ganges), bred by Krzysztof Litwiniak. Mater Bars didn’t take part in the race for a blue ribbon, and then never returned to the high form.
The largest group (11) of private horses running on the Służewiec Racetrack in season 2013 were Arabians bred by Zbigniew Górski, managing the stud farm 35 km from Warsaw. Outside group races were won by three-year-old horses: Muna (Nougatin-Masza/Ataman) – Kohailana I and Afrah (Nougatin-Almina/Furiat) – PZHKA. The latter proved to be the best (3) of the Polish horses in the race for the Award of Białka.
One outside group victory was also gained by each of the three-year old Arabians bred by Robert Talarek: European Award – Cedunia (Nougatin-Cesia/Pers) RES-GAL Sp. z oo: Sasanka – Esponna (Ontario HF – Elegantka from Izb/Mocny); Andrzej Cieloch: Amurath – Ziko (Marwan I-Zbójna Góra/Egon) and Andrzej Mroczek: Czort – Muzahim (Nougatin-Małmazja/Wermut).
